Abstract

Penelitian ini menyoroti respons Gereja Jemaat POUK Oikumene Wawondula terhadap krisis lingkungan yang ditimbulkan oleh aktivitas pertambangan PT Vale Indonesia Tbkz melalui penerapan spiritualitas Ecozoic Era menurut pemikiran Thomas Berry. Kerusakan alam yang terjadi tidak hanya berdampak secara ekologis, tetapi juga mencerminkan hilangnya relasi spiritual antara manusia dan ciptaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan teologi kontekstual, dan data diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi langsung, serta studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun sebagian jemaat memahami bahwa menjaga lingkungan adalah bentuk ketaatan kepada Tuhan, pemahaman tersebut belum sepenuhnya terwujud dalam kehidupan bergereja. Langkah awal telah dilakukan melalui penyampaian pesan lingkungan dalam khotbah, namun belum dilengkapi dengan program sistematis yang mendorong gaya hidup ekologis berbasis iman. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan strategi pelayanan yang relevan dengan konteks jemaat untuk mengembangkan spiritualitas yang menyatu dengan alam dan mendorong gereja menjadi agen perubahan dalam menghadapi krisis ekologi. ABSTRACT This research examines the response of the POUK Oikoumene Wawondula congregation to environmental degradation resulting from the mining operations of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, through the lens of Ecozoic Era spirituality as conceptualized by Thomas Berry. The ecological crisis reflects not only environmental damage but also a disrupted spiritual bond between humans and creation. Employing a qualitative method with a contextual theological approach, data were collected via interviews, direct observation, and literature analysis. The study finds that although the congregation possesses an initial understanding that caring for the environment is part of their Christian duty, this awareness has not yet been fully embodied in church life. Efforts have begun through the inclusion of ecological messages in sermons, but a structured and sustainable approach is still lacking. The study concludes that contextual pastoral strategies are essential tofoster a spiritually grounded ecological awareness, enabling the church to act as a transformative force amid ecological injustice.
