Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is entitled "A Study of Mohanty's Postcolonial Feminism on the Status of Women in Nanggala Sangpiak Salu Village, North Toraja Regency". This study examines the social and cultural position of women in Nanggala Sangpiak Salu Village through the perspective of Chandra Talpade Mohanty's postcolonial feminism. The study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to understand women's experiences related to the influence of the patriarchal system and customary structures on their social and cultural status. The results of this study indicate that women still experience restrictions in traditional leadership dominated by men. These restrictions are not natural conditions, but rather the result of a patriarchal social and cultural system that is rooted and inherited. The view that women are weak and have no authority strengthens gender inequality in indigenous communities. However, awareness is starting to grow among women and community leaders to open up a more equitable space for participation. This study emphasizes the importance of adjusting customary rules to gender justice values so that women can play an active role without eliminating the cultural identity of the community. Keywords : Position of Women, Postcolonial Feminism, Mohanty's Thoughts.
