Abstract

Kata Kunci: legitimasi keimaman, historis naratif, kepemimpinan rohani Abstrack This research examines the legitiacy of Samuel’s priesthood 1 Samuel 2:11-36, a crucial issue given the strict requirements for priesthood in the Old Testament, which were based on the lineage of Aaron from the tribe of Levi. General tradition tends to focus on the failures of Priest Eli and his sons, overlooking the transition of priestly authority to Samuel, who was not a Levite descendant. This research employs a qualitative research method with a library literature review and an exegetical interpretation approach (historical narative analisys). This approach allows for an in-depth analysis of the biblical narrative, considering its historical context, structure, narrative function, as well as the linguistic and theological dimensions of the text. The objective is to exegetically analyze how 1 Samuel 2:11-36 supports the argument for Samuel's priestly legitimacy and to formulate its implications for the understanding and practice of spiritual leadership in the contemporary church. It is hoped that this research will enrich biblical studies and the theology of priesthood, and provide a comprehensive understanding of Samuel's legitimacy, which was not based on traditional genealogy, offering practical implications for the development of healthy and biblical spiritual leadership. Keywoerds: priestly legitimacy, historical narrative, spiritual leadership.
