Abstract

Milhda Lisu (2020218639) judul skripsi “Kajian Teologis terhadap Pemahaman Iman Pia Malayu dan Implementasinya bagi Jemaat Pniel Se’pon Batu Messila” dibimbing oleh Syukur Matasak, M.Th selaku pembimbing I dan Hardi Saputra, M.Th selaku pembimbing II. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara teologis pemahaman iman tentang pia malayu yang merupakan istilah dalam budaya Toraja yang merujuk pada anak yang mati sebelum lahir serta implementasinya bagi jemaat Pniel Se’pon Batu Messila. Permasalahan muncul karena sebagian besar jemaat memahami pia malayu sebagai anak yang suci dan tidak berdosa, akan tetapi secara teologis Pengakuan Gereja Toraja yang sejalan dengan ajaran John Calvin menyatakan bahwa semua manusia mewarisi dosa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagain besar jemaat masih memaknai pia malayu warisan budaya, tanpa dasar teologis yang kuat. Sementara itu, ajaran resmi gereja melalui Pengakuan Gereja Toraja menyatakan semua manusia, termasuk pia malayu, telah membawa natur dosa sejak dalam kandungan. The problem arises because most congregants understand pia malayu as a holy and sinless child, but theologically the Confession of the Toraja Church in line with the teachings of John Calvin states that all humans inherit sin. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation and literature study. The results showed that most of the congregation still interpret pia malayu as a cultural heritage, without a strong theological basis. Meanwhile, the official teaching of the church through the Confession of the Toraja Church states that all humans, including pia malayu, have carried a sin nature since the womb.
