Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji secara historis peran Gereja Protestan Indonesia (GPI) dan lembaga misi Zending Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk (ZCGK) dalam penginjilan dan pendidikan Kristen di Mamasa sejak tahun 1913. Gerakan penginjilan tersebut tidak terlepas dari tantangan budaya lokal seperti sistem kepercayaan Aluk Toyolo dan keterbatasan infrastruktur. Penulis merumuskan tiga rumusan masalah untuk memahami dinamika penginjilan awal serta dampaknya bagi kehidupan jemaat masa kini, khususnya Jemaat Imanuel Sepang. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode historiografi, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi pustaka dan wawancara mendalam. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa peran GPI dan ZCGK sangat penting dalam membentuk struktur gereja lokal, pendidikan iman, serta pola pelayanan jemaat. Relevansi sejarah ini tercermin dalam semangat pelayanan, kesetiaan pada ajaran, dan keterlibatan jemaat dalam kehidupan bergereja di masa kini. Oleh karena itu, warisan penginjilan masa lalu perlu terus dihidupi dan dikontekstualisasikan dalam pelayanan gereja masa kini. Kata kunci: Sejarah, Penginjilan, Mamasa, GPI, ZCGK. ABSTRACT This study examines the historical roles of the Gereja Protestan Indonesia (GPI) and the agency Zending Christelijke Gereformeerde Kerk (ZCGK) in evangelization and Christian education in Mamasa since 1913. The evangelistic movement encountered several challenges, including the local belief system of Aluk Toyolo and limited infrastructure. The researcher formulated three main questions to explore the dynamics of early evangelization and its impact on the church today, especially in Jemaat Imanuel Sepang. The research method used is historiography, involving data collection through literature review and in-depth interviews. The findings show that GPI adn ZCGK played crucial roles in shaping the structure of the local church, nurturing faith education, and influencing ministry practices. The relevance of this historical legacy is evident in the church’s current spirit of service, doctrinal faithfulness, and community involvement. Therefore, the legacy of past evangelization must continue to be lived out and contextualized in the present-day ministry of the church. Keywords: Evangelization, Mamasa, History, GPI, ZCGK.
