Abstract
Kata Kunci: Reinterpretasi teologis, Padungku, budaya Pamona ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the theological reinterpretation of the meaning of Padungku tradition of gratitude in the local culture of Pamona for the development of the Tikulembangna Tentena congregation. Using a qualitative research method with a field research approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews with Toraja Church elders, GKST assembly, village secretaries, as well as field observations and documentation studies. The data analysis used Max Weber's theory of sociology of religion and John Calvin's theological concept of the sovereignty of God and grace. The results of the study show that the theological reinterpretation of the Padungku tradition has succeeded in transforming the traditional rituals of the harvest into a universal expression of gratitude in the Christian faith through the shift in the time of implementation from October to July, the replacement of the term "Padungku" with a simple "thanksgiving", and the universalization of meaning that covers all professions based on the theological foundation of the Old Testament. In the construction of the Tikulembangna Tentena congregation, this reinterpretation contributes holistically to the spiritual dimension by strengthening faith, the social dimension as a binder of ties across denominations, and the economic dimension through solidarity exchange and voluntary offerings, so that despite the tension between the traditional assembly and the church, the transformation from ritual in baruga to thanksgiving in the church creates an effective contextualization model that connects cultural heritage with a call of faith for the building of the congregation rooted in the local culture and the Christian faith.
