Abstract

Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya orang percaya yang masih berjuang dengan identitas lama mereka dan belum sepenuhnya memahami implikasi dari status mereka sebagai ciptaan baru dalam Kristus. Untuk menjawab hal tersebut, maka tulisan ini dimaksudkan untuk mengkaji makna ciptaan baru dalam Kristus berdasarkan kajian hermeneutik 2 Korintus 5:17 serta relevansinya bagi kehidupan kristen. Pokok persoalan yang dibahas adalah bagaimana makna teologis dari ciptaan baru dipahami dalam konteks historis dan gramatikal, serta bagaimana konsep ini diterapkan secara nyata dalam kehidupan orang percaya. Metode yang digunakan ialah pendekatan hermeneutik gramatikal historis yang bertujuan untuk memahami makna asli dari sebuah teks Alkitab berdasarkan struktur bahasa dan konteks sejarahnya. Hasilnya memperlihatkan bahwa ciptaan baru tidak hanya merujuk pada perubahan status rohani seseorang, tetapi mencakup pembaharuan identitas, karakter, relasi sosial dan orientasi hidup secara menyeluruh dalam Kristus. ABSTRACT This study is motivated by the reality that many believers continue to struggle with their old identities and have not fully understood the implications of their status as a new creation in Christ. To address this issue, thispaper aims to explore the meaning of the new creation in Christ based on a hermeneutical study of 2 Corinthians 5:17 and its relevance to contemporary Christian life. The main issue discussed is how the theological meaning of the new creation is understood whitin its historical and gramatical context, and how this concept is practically applied in the life of believers. The method used is the gramatical-historical hermeneutical approach, which aims to understand the original meaning of a biblical text based on its linguistic structure and historical context. The findings show that the concept of the new creation does not merely refer to a change in a person’s spiritual status, but encompasses a renewal of identity, character, social relationships, and life orientation as a whole in Christ.
