Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran hukum adat Mebulle Bai dalam penyelesaian konflik di Desa Buntubuda, Kecamatan Mamasa. Mebulle Bai merupakan ritual yang masih relevan dalam menyelesaikan konflik masyarakat, meskipun lembaga kepolisian dan peradilan tetap dihormati. Metodologi penelitian meliputi wawancara dengan tokoh adat dan masyarakat setempat untuk memahami pemahaman mereka tentang ritual ini. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Mebulle Bai tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sanksi bagi pelanggaran berat, tetapi juga sebagai sarana untuk mengembalikan harga diri dan menciptakan perdamaian. Proses pelaksanaan ritual melibatkan mediasi dan negoisasi, yang bertujuan untuk mencari solusi yang adil bagi semua pihak. Selain itu, ritual ini mencerminkan nilai-nilai kolaborasi dan kompromi yang penting dalam masyarakat, serta memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana hukum adat dapat menjadi jembatan untuk pemulihan hubungan sosial. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap pemahaman praktik hukum adat dalam konteks penyelesaian konflik di masyarakat Kata Kunci : Mebulle Bai, Mediasi, Negoisasi, Kompromi, dan Kolaborasi ABSTRACT This research aims to examine the role of Mebulle Bai customary law in resolving conflicts in Buntubuda Village, Mamasa District. Mebulle Bai is a ritual that is still relevant in resolving community conflicts, even though police and judicial institutions are still respected. The research methodology includes interviews with traditional leaders and local communities to understand their understanding of this ritual. The results show that Mebulle Bai not only functions as a sanction for serious violations, but also as a means to restore self-esteem and create peace. The ritual implementation process involves mediation and negoitation, which aims to find a fair solution for all parties. In addition, these rituals reflect the values of collaboration and compromise that are important in society, and provide insight into how customary law can be a bridge for the restoration of social relations. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the understanding of customary law practices in the context of conflict resolution in society.
