Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya perhatian gereja terhadap penyandang disabilitas intelektual dalam pelayanan sakramen Perjamuan Kudus. Perjamuan Kudus seharusnya terbuka bagi semua umat, namun realitas di Gereja Toraja Jemaat Loko’ Cabang Kebaktian Lumika’ menunjukkan bahwa penyandang disabilitas intelektual belum mendapatkan sebagaimana mestinya terutama dalam hal perjamuan kudus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, yaitu pendekatan yang menekankan pada pemahaman mendalam terhadap realitas sosial dan konteks kehidupan jemaat, khususnya dalam hal pelayanan kepada penyandang disabilitas intelektual di lingkungan Gereja Toraja Jemaat Loko’ Cabang Kebaktian Lumika’. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa majelis gereja belum memahami secara utuh tanggung jawab mereka terhadap penyandang disabilitas intelektual, baik dalam pelayanan pastoral maupun sakramental. Tidak adanya program khusus, pendekatan kontekstual, dan keterlibatan keluarga membuat pelayanan menjadi tidak inklusif. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya membangun gereja yang ramah disabilitas demi mewujudkan pelayanan yang adil dan menyeluruh. Kata Kunci: Majelis Gereja, Perjamuan Kudus, Disabilitas. ABSTRACT His research is motivated by the lack of attention given by the church to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the administration of the sacrament of Holy Communion. Holy Communion is supposed to be open to all believers, yet the reality in the Toraja Church, Loko’ Congregation, Lumika’ Worship Branch, shows that individuals with intellectual disabilities have not received the full inclusion they deserve, particularly in the context of Holy Communion.This study employs a qualitative research method, which emphasizes a deep understanding of the social realities and contextual life of the congregation, especially concerning ministry to individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Loko’ Congregation, Lumika’ Worship Branch of the Toraja Church. The findings indicate that church elders have not fully understood their responsibilities toward individuals with intellectual disabilities, both in pastoral and sacramental ministry. The absence of specific programs, contextual approaches, and family involvement has led to a ministry that is not inclusive. This research highlights the importance of building a disability-friendly church in order to achieve a ministry that is just and holistic. Keywords: Church Elders, Holy Communion, Disability.
