Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis secara teologis konsep Providentia Dei (pemeliharaan Tuhan) dalam konteks kehidupan penyandang difabel di Klasis Mengkendek Timur. Paham Providentia Dei menekankan bahwa Tuhan secara aktif memelihara, mengelola, dan memiliki rencana bagi seluruh ciptaan-Nya. Bagi penyandang difabel, pemahaman ini seringkali menghadapi tantangan interpretasi di tengah stigma dan kesulitan hidup yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali bagaimana penyandang difabel dan keluarga mereka memahami serta mengalami Providentia Dei dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta peran gereja dalam mewujudkan pemeliharaan Tuhan bagi mereka. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Hasil penelitian penulis mendeskripsikan bahwa masih ada warga gereja di Klasis Mengkendek Timur yang masih merasakan keraguan akan Providentia Dei. Providentia Dei diimplementasikan dalam kerangka teori Calvin dengan melibatkan penerimaan atas kedaulatan Tuhan atas segala sesuatu. Bahkan juga peran aktif dari gereja untuk menolong setiap penyandang difabel yang dalam berbagai pergumulan iman agar mampu memaknai Providentia Dei. ABSTRACT This study theologically analyzes the concept of Providentia Dei (God's care) in the context of the lives of people with disabilities in the East Mengkendek Classis. The Providentia Dei understanding emphasizes that God actively maintains, manages, and has a plan for all of His creations. For people with disabilities, this understanding often faces challenges of interpretation amidst the stigma and difficulties of life they face. This study aims to explore how people with disabilities and their families understand and experience Providentia Dei in their daily lives, as well as the role of the church in realizing God's care for them. In this study, the author used qualitative research with a case study approach. The results of the author's research describe that there are still church members in the East Mengkendek Classis who still feel doubtful about Providentia Dei. Providentia Dei is implemented within the framework of Calvin's theory by involving acceptance of God's sovereignty over all things. Even the active role of the church in helping every person with disabilities who are in various struggles of faith to be able to interpret Providentia Dei.
