Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran ayah dalam keluarga berdasarkan teori Mary Wollstonecraft di Jemaat Bottodongga. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesenjangan yang terjadi di Jemaat Bottodongga yaitu masih ada beberapa ayah yang kurang menerapkan perannya dalam mendidik anak. Tujuan penelitian ialah memahami dan menjelaskan peran ayah sebagai pendidik dalam keluarga, dengan mengacu pada teori Mary Wollstonecraft di Jemaat Bottodongga. Jenis teknik pengkajian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi, dan cara pengumpulan data melalui wawancara tidak terstruktur, dokumentasi, dan kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa peran ayah dalam keluarga tidak boleh dipandang secara tradisional atau sekedar pencari nafkah. Peran seorang ayah bukan hanya sekedar pencari nafkah atau sebagai kepala keluarga tetapi ayah juga memiliki peran sebagai pemimpin, pelindung, pendidik, serta menjadi teladan bagi keluarga terutama bagi anak. Ayah harus terlibat dalam mendidik anak untuk mendukung pertumbuhan optimal anak secara akademik, sosial, emosional, dan fisik. Kata Kunci: Keluarga, Peran Ayah, Mary Wollstonecraft ABSTRACT This study examines the role of fathers within the family through the theoretical lens of Mary Wollstonecraft in the Bottodongga Congregation. It is motivated by an observed gap: some fathers in this congregation have not fully embraced their role in child education. The goal of the study is to comprehend and articulate the father’s role as an educator in the family, drawing on Wollstonecraft’s theory within the specific context of Bottodongga. Employing qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, data were collected through unstructured interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings reveal that the father’s role must not be viewed in traditional terms—merely as a breadwinner or head of household. Instead, the father also has essential responsibilities as a leader, protector, educator, and role model for the family, particularly for children. Active paternal involvement in education fosters the optimal development of children across academic, social, emotional, and physical domains. Keywords: family, fatherhood, Mary Wollstonecraft
