Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis Bilangan 3:21-37 melalui pendekatan hermeneutik kontekstual untuk menggali makna teologis yang terkandung dalam struktur tugas dan tanggung jawab bani Lewi, serta relevansinya terhadap tugas koster di Gereja Jemaat Hermon Tambuli. Teks ini membagi suku Lewi menjadi tiga bani utama Gersyon, Kehat, dan Merari dengan tugas-tugas spesifik dalam pemeliharaan Kemah Suci. Kajian ini bertujuan menjembatani kesenjangan antara fungsi teknis dan dimensi spiritual yang melekat dalam pelayanan seorang koster. Metode hermeneutik kontekstual digunakan untuk memahami teks Alkitab dalam konteks historis dan kebudayaan Israel kuno, kemudian dihubungkan dengan situasi modern. Analisis ini melibatkan penggalian tema-tema seperti kekudusan, hierarki pelayanan, dan kesakralan dalam ibadah, sekaligus mempertimbangkan pengaruh budaya Toraja terhadap persepsi jabatan koster. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tugas bani Lewi mencerminkan tanggung jawab yang kompleks dan saling terhubung, menekankan pentingnya sinergi antara dimensi spiritual dan teknis dalam pelayanan. Hal ini memberikan landasan teologis untuk memahami peran koster sebagai bagian integral dari pelayanan gerejawi, yang tidak hanya bersifat administratif, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada kesakralan ibadah. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini memberikan wawasan praktis bagi jemaat Hermon Tambuli dalam memperkuat penghargaan terhadap peran koster sebagai pelayan Tuhan yang setia. ABSTRACT This study analyzes Numbers 3:21-37 using a contextual hermeneutical approach to explore the theological meaning embedded in the structure of the Levite clans' duties and responsibilities and their relevance to the role of the sexton in Hermon Tambuli Church. The text divides the Levites into three main clans Gershon, Kohath, and Merari each tasked with specific responsibilities in maintaining the Tabernacle. This study aims to bridge the gap between the technical functions and the spiritual dimensions inherent in a sexton’s service. The contextual hermeneutical method is employed to understand the biblical text within the historical and cultural context of ancient Israel and connect it to modern situations. The analysis delves into themes such as holiness, hierarchical service, and sacredness in worship, while also considering the influence of Torajan culture on the perception of the sexton's role. The findings reveal that the duties of the Levite clans reflect complex and interdependent responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of synergy between spiritual and technical dimensions in ministry. This provides a theological foundation for understanding the sexton’s role as an integral part of church service, contributing not only administratively but also to the sanctity of worship. Consequently, this study offers practical insights for Hermon Tambuli Church in enhancing appreciation for the sexton’s role as a faithful servant of God.
