Abstract
Kata kunci : Alkitab, Ritus Mero' , Iman Kristen, Budaya ABSTRACT This research examines the theological review of the practice of idol worship that still takes place among Christians through death rituals, with a special focus on the Mero' rite in the Christian environment in Miallo, Mappak District. Based on Exodus 20:3-5, this research highlights the strict prohibition against worshiping other gods, making statues or images, and bowing down to entities other than the true God. The methodology used involves theological study, interviews with local religious and community leaders, as well as direct observation of the implementation of Mero' rites. The results of the research show that despite efforts to harmonize local traditions with the Christian faith, there are still elements in the Mero' rites that could be considered idolatry. Practices such as making and honoring images or symbols of the dead, as well as acts that resemble worship, are contrary to the teachings of Exodus 20:3-5. Key words: Bible, Mero' Rite, Christian Faith, Culture.
