Abstract

ABSTRAK Keluarga adalah salah satu kelompok sosial terkecil, di mana peran orang tua sangat besar khususnya dalam hal pola asuh. Ada orang tua yang mengasuh anak dengan keras, dan ada yang mengasuh dengan kelemahlembutan. Penelitian ini hendak mengetahui makna Amsal 23:13-14 dan implikasinya bagi pola asuh orang tua era 4.0 di Gereja Toraja Mamasa Jemaat Kalimbuang. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan tafsir reader response (respon pembaca) kepada beberapa orang tua dan majelis gereja di Gereja Toraja Mamasa Jemaat Kalimbuang untuk menggali makna Amsal 23:13-14. Pemaknaan teks didasarkan atas pemahaman dan latar belakang pembaca. Hasil yang ditemukan bahwa orang tua di jemaat Kalimbuang memiliki pola asuh yang berbeda-beda. Sesuai hasil reader response dan analisis, disimpulkan bahwa Amsal 23:13-14 dimaknai bukan hanya secara harafiah sebagai perintah bagi orang tua untuk memukul anak menggunakan rotan tetapi juga didikan secara lisan yang sifatnya tegas dan keras. Keduanya dilakukan bukan untuk menyiksa anak melainkan dengan tujuan untuk mendidik dan menyelamatkan anak. Oleh karena itu, orang tua mendidik anak atas dasar kasih yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan anak dan konteks era 4.0. Kata Kunci: Amsal 23:13-14; era 4.0; pola asuh; reader respons ABSTRACT The family is one of the smallest social groups, where the role of parents is very large, especially in terms of parenting. There are parents who parent their children harshly, and there are those who parent them gently. This research aims to find out the meaning of Proverbs 23:13-14 and its implications for parenting patterns in the 4.0 era at the Toraja Mamasa Church, Kalimbuang congregation. This research was conducted using a reader response interpretation approach to several parents and church councilors at the Toraja Mamasa Church, Kalimbuang congregation to explore the meaning of Proverbs 23:13-14. The meaning of the text is based on the reader's understanding and background. The results found that parents in the Kalimbuang congregation had different parenting patterns. Based on the results of reader responses and analysis, it was concluded that Proverbs 23:13-14 was interpreted not only literally as a command for parents to hit their children using rattan but also as verbal instruction that was firm and harsh in nature. Both were done not to torture children but with the aim of educating and saving children. Therefore, parents educate children on the basis of love that is adapted to the child's needs and the context of the 4.0 era.
