Abstract
Abstract Indonesia Elionora Fransiska: 2020196477, Kajian Teologis Adat Potapahi dan Relevamsinya Bagi Gereja Toraja Jemaat Maranatha Watukilo Klasis Sulawesi Tengah (Dibimbing oleh Salmon Pamantung, Ph.D. dan Dr. Selvianti, MT.h.). Tradisi Potapahi, yang dipraktikkan di Desa Kulawi Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah, adalah praktik budaya yang terkenal di Indonesia. Upacara tradisional ini yang dikenal sebagai Tola'bala melibatkan pembersihan desa. Upacara ini melambangkan penanaman tanah untuk tempat tinggal dan kehidupan manusia. Selama upacara, seekor kerbau disembelih, dan darah serta kepala kerbau tersebut dipersembahkan ke sungai, melambangkan pembuangan malapetaka dan bencana yang telah terjadi di Kulawi. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi wawancara dengan narasumber terpilih, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian yaitu adat Potapahi merupakan praktik pembersihan dan pengikat hubungan sosial. Masyarakat meyakini adat ini melindungi dari bencana dan menjaga moralitas. Pendekatan "Christ Transforming Culture" oleh Richard Niebuhr menunjukkan peran gereja dalam memadukan nilai-nilai Kristen dengan adat, memperbaiki praktik adat sesuai iman Kristen, dan menghormati budaya lokal. Gereja menjadi agen perubahan dengan mengajarkan bahwa keselamatan diperoleh melalui Kristus dan membimbing pelaksanaan adat. Gereja memiliki peran sentral dalam menyatukan iman Kristen dengan nilai-nilai adat Potapahi demi memperkaya kehidupan jemaat dan memperkokoh identitas budaya. Kata kunci : Tradisi Potapahi, Kajian teologis, Relevansi Gereja Maranatha Watukilo Abstract English Elionora Fransiska: 2020196477, Theological Study Of The Potapahi Custom and its Relevance To The Toraja Church The Maranatha Watukilo Classical Congregation of Central Sulawesi. The Potapahi tradition, practiced in Kulawi Village of Central Sulawesi Province, is a well-known cultural practice in Indonesia. This traditional ceremony known as Tola'bala involves cleansing the village. This ceremony symbolizes the cultivation of land for human habitation and life. During the ceremony, a buffalo is slaughtered, and the buffalo's blood and head are offered to the river, symbolizing the disposal of the havoc and calamity that has occurred in Kulawi. The methodology used is. Data collection techniques used include interviews with selected sources, observation and documentation. The result of the study is that the Potapahi custom is a practice of cleaning and binding social relations. People believe this custom protects against disasters and maintains morality. Richard Niebuhr's "Christ Transforming Culture" approach shows the role of the church in blending Christian values with custom, improving indigenous practices according to the Christian faith, and respecting local culture. The Church becomes an agent of change by teaching that salvation is obtained through Christ and guiding the implementation of custom. The Church has a central role in uniting the Christian faith with the traditional values of Potapahi in order to enrich the lives of the congregation and strengthen cultural identity.
